Liverpool and Wolves are mourning the loss of the Portuguese international Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away at just 28.
During his time with the club, he has significantly contributed to their success, helping secure major trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, solidifying his place in Liverpool’s storied history.
Jota married his long-term partner just weeks ago and was a the father of three children.
The car accident also involves Jota’s brother of 26-year-old, Andre Silva, was also tragically killed in the accident. He played for Liga Portugal 2 side Penafiel and was well-regarded in the football community.
The incident occurred at 12:30 AM local time on the A-52 motorway in Cernadilla, Zamora. The car lost control after a tyre burst while overtaking and subsequently caught fire.
Diogo Jota is part of the Portugal team that won both UEFA Nations League titles. He has made 49 appearances, scoring 14 goals in 2,386 minutes played.
